Bristol East
This recently completed three storey holiday home on a steep hill site has plenty of glass to maximise the outstanding mountain views. Designed by Sally Turnbull Architecture with structural engineering by R D Sullivan & Associates, this 270 sqm, 4-bedroom home, incorporates passive solar elements such as deep verandas and polished concrete floors. The house is clad in Abodo, a thermally modified timber, and Coloursteel to withstand the area’s hot dry summers and cold winters.
Oakview Rise
Built to capture the views, this two-storey holiday home provides an idyllic escape and is within easy walking distance to the village. The use of stone cladding on the ground floor provides a great contrast to the Board and Batten of the 1st floor. Sliding glass doors that stack back on the Northwest corner of the lounge provide a seamless flow to the expansive 2nd storey deck. The use of negative detailing with the plytech ply on the stairwell and first floor landing creates a warm and inviting feel to the home. Structural engineering was provided by Powell Fenwick with the building designed by Architect Sally Turnbull Architecture.
Oakview
Nestled into the hillside this multi-level property is built to provide level entry access and features a Powerglide lift to access all levels. Stone cladding on the ground floor provides a great contrast to the Linea on the 1st and 2nd floors. Designed by Sally Turnbull Architecture with engineering by Powell Fenwick this home has been designed to accommodate the future access needs of the homeowners. The exposed aggregate paths and driveway are visually appealing and low maintenance.
Fraser Close
A modern 4 bedroom single storey home designed by Foley Group Architecture with engineering by R. D Sullivan. This home is clad in cedar and Oamaru stone with a spacious alfresco dining area and beautiful polished concrete floors throughout the interior. This home has a hydronic central heating system which heats water and moves it through sealed pipes in the floor slab keeping your feet toasty warm. This system is powered by a pellet fire in the garage.
Bristol Street
The steep site on this build offered its challenges not only with access for us as the builders but also recession planes for the Architects, Linetype Architectural. R.D Sullivan were the structural engineers for this build. This property has a mixture of building materials with Coloursteel wall claddings, cedar gables and a block wall ground floor. A glass exterior feature wall further adds to the modern design of this home. Water heated by a diesel boiler is piped through radiators and keeps the home at a constant temperature. The alfresco area off the dining and kitchen space offers not only great views but the luxury of a pizza oven.
Tennyson Close
This well designed home by Foley Group Architecture and engineered by R.D Sullivan, has two contrasting exterior wall claddings, board and batten and Titan Facade panels. Two covered entertaining areas provide options depending on the sun and prevailing winds. Heating is from a woodfire and heat pump, the latter providing cooling in summer. This holiday home has fantastic custom made bunk rooms to optimise sleeping arrangements for visitors.
The Treehouse
A one of a kind build featuring on Grand Designs NZ. This build required the use of “old school” building techniques due to the uniqueness of the design. Providing many challenges throughout from design to engineering to location, the end result is a stunning example of locally sourced timbers being used to realise the clients dream to live in a Tree House.
